# Trade Licenses

## The threshold between F2P and P\&E

Mobile gaming brought a new genre of Free-to-play games into the world and blockchain gaming gave birth to Play-to-Earn (or as we want to say, Play and Earn) games. As early as the industry of blockchain gaming is, still the most high-profile obstacle is **mass adoption and value dilution**.&#x20;

For all of our games developed by Pentachora, we aimed to harness the best of both worlds, by providing F2P base gameplay distributed by app stores and having the key elements of blockchain gaming economy protected by a threshold we would like to call "Trade Licenses"

Gamers without Trade Licenses will still be able to enjoy most of the Web 2 part of the game to the fullest but to experience the symbiotic mechanics of all our games, they will require to have it on their account.

## Contents that require Trade Licenses

Below is the list of **contents that require Trade Licenses to access:**

1. Accessing In-game Marketplace functions&#x20;
2. Swapping in-game currencies to on-chain $PEN token
3. Minting in-game assets - Characters, Equipment, Resources - to on-chain NFTs

## Ways to obtain Trade Licenses

Trade Licenses can be obtained through many different pipelines, but will differ in coverage and duration. On-chain Trade Licenses will exist in the form of NFTs until it is used inside a game, or be bound to an on-chain wallet address in the form of SBT(Soul Bound Token)s.

Below is the different, but not the entire list of ways to obtain Trade Licenses:

1. Purchasing Game Passes&#x20;
2. Participating in [Land NFT](/base-ecosystem-mechanics/land-nfts.md) minting
3. Participating in game-specific NFT minting&#x20;
4. Purchasing separate Trade Licenses through in-app purchase(IAP)s&#x20;
5. Character Summon drops
6. Purchasing Trade License NFTs through NFT marketplaces
7. Game specific User level reward

## Tiers of Trade Licenses

As mentioned above, there will be different types of Trade Licenses depending on how and where it was obtained. Trade Licenses will have different tiers, following the [Rarity](/base-ecosystem-mechanics/rarity.md) level of the Base Game Mechanics.

<table><thead><tr><th width="104">Grade</th><th>Expiration</th><th>Coverage</th><th>Notes</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>UR</td><td>None</td><td>All Games</td><td>Game Pass, NFT</td></tr><tr><td>SSR</td><td>None</td><td>All Games</td><td>SBT, Held in wallet</td></tr><tr><td>SR</td><td>None</td><td>Game Specific</td><td>NFT, Used in-game</td></tr><tr><td>R</td><td>1 Month</td><td>Game Specific</td><td>IAP</td></tr><tr><td>UC</td><td>2 Weeks</td><td>Game Specific</td><td>IAP, Character Summon</td></tr><tr><td>C*</td><td>None</td><td>Game Specific</td><td>User level Reward</td></tr></tbody></table>

\*Common tier Trade Licenses can be obtained through in-game rewards that enables access to the marketplace but cannot access minting and swapping features.
